Queen is a litmus test to gauging people’s comfort with their own anger. It’s intense. Queen is fury. She’s outraged and finished with pretenses. Yes, anger can be toxic and violent. Anger suppressed; Anger stoked beyond reason, beyond the ability to listen; Anger for the sake of anger - this anger is destructive. It creates divides and becomes inflexible to perspective. However, when anger is met with understanding and compassion, we can use it as a tool to inform us. Anger is a gift of clarity. It shows us where our boundaries have been crossed. It gives us the fire we need to take action. Let it charge you with a passion for action and change. Queen is an expression of anger, wrath, pain, and release.

About the Series Shades of Atman, or shades of the soul, is an exploration of how emotions manifest on a sensory level. The series is inspired by an emotional literacy and mindfulness exercise Hannah-Rose taught in Atlanta Public High Schools called, emotional body mapping. Each piece is a meditation on an emotion, followed by an exploration of how that emotion manifests through sensations in the body, color, and movement.
